Established by the passage of the Clean Water, Safe Parks and Community Trails Initiative in 2000, the Great Rivers Greenway District is responsible for developing a network of greenways, parks and trails, known as the River Ring. When completed, The River Ring will encircle the entire St. Louis region. As part of the greenway development effort, Great Rivers Greenway commissioned a master plan for the Dardenne Greenway. The Dardenne Greenway begins at the Mississippi River and follows Dardenne Creek to the Busch Memorial Conservation Area. The proposed 36-mile greenway will parallel Dardenne Creek and connect the Katy Trail, Busch Conservation Area and the River Ring.

Teamed with SWT Architects and Greenways Inc, Intuition & Logic was responsible for compiling available GIS data, such as contours, roadways, and stream centerlines, as well as reviewing and interpreting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dardenne Creek Watershed Study. Based on this analysis, we were able to identify opportunities and limitations imposed by existing topography and flood limits, make recommendations on trail alignments, and locate possible seed projects for future trails.
